I did the right thing calling the cops when I saw the guy on Sunday. Press Release: Saratoga Creek Trail Serial Battery Case - UPDATE

The San Jose Police Department has been investigating four reports of a suspicious male adult following female joggers along the Saratoga Creek Trail (pedestrian trail).  In addition, the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Department received a similar report within the same area.  These incidents have occurred on the pedestrian trail area between Bollinger Rd. and Doyle Rd. on the west side of Lawrence Expressway.  In several instances, the suspect made unwelcome physical contact with female joggers as they ran along the creek pathway.

The San Jose Police Department Bureau of Investigations and the Bureau of Field Operations conducted a thorough investigation and extensive community outreach in order to identify and apprehend the responsible party.  On Sunday, May 30th, 2010, a citizen reported seeing a person matching the description of the suspect on the trail.  Patrol officers located the suspect as he was leaving the area.  The suspect, identified as Curtis Campbell of Cupertino, was cooperative and accompanied officers to the police department for an interview with detectives.  He admitted his involvement in all of the incidents.

Investigating detectives found that Campbell is developmentally disabled and was unaware of the gravity of his actions.  The case has been referred to the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office for review.
